Why an individual assessment?
The more that is known
about an individual or a group of individuals, the better you are
able to:
- assess each individual's ability to do a job
- select the best possible candidate for a job
- determine each individual's most important
developmental needs
- manage an individual's transition into a new
role
The Assessment Process
at Ellis Associates
Our full assessment process is targeted to managerial
and executive positions. A shorter focused assessment can be useful
for supervisory and other professional roles. Both assessment programs
follow the same three basic phases. Some of the work can be done
at home and some of it requires that the candidate come to our office.
Testing
As soon as Ellis Associates is notified that a candidate is going
to go through the assessment process, a consultant will contact
the individual to provide an overview of the assessment process
and answer any questions. Arrangements are made at that time for
a pre-interview package to be delivered to the candidate containing
a series of questionnaires. These are completed before coming to
Ellis Associates offices, where the candidate completes a series
of fully validated ability tests. The specific tests used vary with
the level and complexity of the job for which the candidate is being
considered. Every effort is made to allay any apprehension the candidate
may feel throughout the entire process.
Interview & Feedback
After completing the testing, candidates undergo an in-depth behavioural
interview with one of our consultants. During this session, the
consultant will use the results of the tests and questionnaires
as the basis for further exploration of the candidate's background,
experience and work habits. Before they leave, candidates are given
detailed feedback on the results of the assessment along with recommendations
and suggested strategies for personal development. We work hard
to ensure that each candidate derives as much personal benefit from
the assessment experience as possible.
Report
The final component is a detailed written report that outlines the
strengths, possible limitations and developmental needs of the candidate
as these relate to the culture and values of the hiring organization
and the specific demands of the position for which the candidate
is being considered. Copies of this report are forwarded to both
the client organization and the candidate. If time is an issue,
the consultant can provide the client or decision maker/s with a
verbal debriefing by telephone almost immediately.
